AEW Dynamite Preview 9/20: Grand Slam Special, MJF Vs. Samoa Joe For AEW World Title

While MJF’s recreation of the infamous Scott Steiner promo does give some confidence, one has to wonder how long MJF’s body can hold up. The neck, without factoring in the injury, is already one of Joe’s favorite targets as his “Muscle Buster” finisher greatly impacts it. It now opens up a wide array of neck cranks that are just going to torment “The Devil”.

I can certainly see MJF finding a way to pull out the win here, but as I already stated, his body is battered. Samoa Joe is just going to better him more. It will be a fantastic match and lead to more questions than answers. Regardless of the outcome, you will not want to miss this episode of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam!

Winner Takes All Match- Claudio Castagnoli (ROH World Champion) vs Eddie Kingston (Strong Openweight Champion)

Eddie Kingston has a feud with Blackpool Combat Club, who challenged the ROH World Champion for a Winner Takes All Match at AEW Grand Slam.

As per speculations, Claudio Castagnoli will win both the titles after a hard fought match.

AEW International Championship- Jon Moxley (C) vs Rey Fenix

The New International Champion Jon Moxley will defend his championship against Rey Fenix. Jon Moxley will win the match and retain his championship.

Elsewhere, Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley defends the AEW International Championship against Rey Fénix, while fellow BCC member Claudio Castagnoli battles Eddie Kingston in a Winner Takes All match for the ROH World Championship and NJPW Strong Openweight Championship.

And lastly, Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara will face each other in singles action for the first time ever. Le Sex Gods came face-to-face last Wednesday night, with the pair reminiscing about their history in AEW. Guevara went on to say that he needed to defeat Jericho in order to escape being in his shadow. Jericho responded by saying Guevara needed to beat him to get to the next level. However, the former AEW World Champion didn’t think Guevara was ready.

The point is that there are no random matches here, and that’s a good thing. Grand Slam may have be now a bit lost in the shuffle between PPVs, and the wonder may have worn off a little from holding a show at Arthur Ashe Stadium, but it deserves a card with some thought behind it, and that’s absolutely the case tonight.
